PLETHORA
PLETHORA - A mock sustainability blog and zine
Thesis Project, Spring 2025

Designed and photographed by Rachel Griffiths
PLETHORA is a blog and zine that desires to inform on the importance of sustainable living, specifically in one of the most creative aspects of our lives and personal presentation: fashion. As an artist, I see clearly how making and designing can easily be wasteful. Individual expression is valued so deeply and differently by all. I have valued sustainability since my education on our dying planet, and I strive to use PLETHORA to showcase how easily one can create their identity while making a positive impact. Design-wise, I wanted to create a variety of interesting imagery and typography to appeal to young people. Creating content to engage the youth can be very difficult, and I hope the variety within PLETHORA is enough to keep audiences reading and understanding how sustainability can be cool.
The Blog
Designed in Figma, the PLETHORA blog aims to inspire site viewers to live fashionably and sustainably. Sustainability news, outfit inspiration, and a “Thrift of the Month” contest are just a few of the resources available on the site. There is also a page dedicated to ordering our monthly zine.
The Zine
The PLETHORA monthly zine subscription was designed for creative people looking to be inspired by sustainability. The zine aims to inform, create discussion, and provide up-cycling advice. Each month, a “Thrift of the Month” is featured, as well as two main articles and a Fiber Guide.
Thesis goals
Fast fashion is designed to entice consumers with low costs and attainable trendiness, but further research on the industry brought harrowing issues of carbon emissions and slave labor to light. By using engaging, trendy imagery and typography, I hope my blog and zine, PLETHORA, showcases the sustainable fashion industry to young people who strive to establish their identities and values. My goal is to design aesthetically pleasing spreads that contain real information on Earth’s fashion, and I hope to use design to convince my audience that sustainability is cool.
